I just recently set up a VMWare Infrastructure for a client and was looking at adding iSCSI using Starwind to provide an easy and cost effective means for backing up their Virtual Machines without having to spend on a SAN.

I installed starwind and have an external 2.5tb SCSI raid array attached. Everything seems to be connected and installed correctly but when I get to the Add Storage wizard in the VMWare Infrastructure client it lets me choose the LUN, name the datastore, pick the block size, etc but when I click finish and it attempts to Create the VMFS Datastore it fails every time with the following error...

"Error during the configuration of the host: Unable to create Filesystem."

Any help would be appreciated!

Looks like a great product if I could get it working..

Start with sending us StarWind logs generated during unsuccessful attempt to connect from ESX. Please zip them and send to support@rocketdivision.com with few comments about who you are, what you're doing and so on. We'll sort the issue out ASAP. Thanks!
