Hello forum,

converted a dd/raw image of a Win2000 based systen (entire hdd with 2 partitions) successfully to vmdk and started Win2000 in VirtualBox :)

However the final vmdk is too big (as well the dd/raw of course) :(

Question
Is there a way to have Starwind Converter shrinked the VMDK (are are a lot of unsused blocks in the dd/raw image) ?

Thank you very much!

Welcome to StarWind Forum. Sadly, StarWind V2V converter does not shrink the disks. You could try shrinking the VMDK as described here though https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1002019 and http://woshub.com/shrinking-vmdk-virtua ... ware-esxi/.

Thank you very much Yaroslav for the promt feedback (with alternate solutions).

As for me, I would appreciate it very much, if this feature could be integrated into Starwind Converter.

Greetings Joe,

You are always welcome. Sadly, this involves manipulations on the OS level and I am not entirely sure if that is related to the Converter.
I will file the feature request though.

Yes, it is, but, sadly, no realistic ETA so far.
As a temporary workaround, you can shrink the VMDK as described https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1002019.
