Is this product compatible with StarWind 5.7+, and do you think it would give a significant performance boost?

Yes, it should work. Using Fusion-IO cards for example allows to achive very good results.

P.S. Upcoming version of StarWind is expected to have automatic storage tiering so you'll have to throw in some SSDs w/o need to install any kind of a caching software. And SSD capacity is not going to be wasted like it's the case with pure caching stuff.
