Hello

I am a newbee and planning to use StarWind Virtual Backup Appliance on a physical Linux Node which has directly attached storage disks of 3 x 4TB each, apart from the disk on which the appliance will be installed

I am intending follow the guide :
Configuration Guide for Bare-metal Installation, Virtual Backup Appliance Deployed as a Linux ISO using Web UI
https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resour ... so-web-ui/

I have questions that are :

1. Can I directly use the attached storage as a local backup repository ?
- I do not have any Veeam Instances running in my lab

2. Can I backup the Virtual_Machines running on Free VMWare ESXI (no VMWare vCenter) ?

3. Is there any limit on the number of VM's that can be backed up ?

4. Post backing up into the local_backup_repository, can I replicate these to Amazon S3 bucket ?

Requesting for help here on the above questions along with how-to links

You can connect the StarWind VSAN storage to a backup solution of choice over iSCSI as discussed in the guide.
2. Can I backup the Virtual_Machines running on Free VMWare ESXI (no VMWare vCenter) ?
Yes, you can deploy a CVM https://www.starwindsoftware.com/downlo ... s#download (select the appropriate option). The configuration in the UI will be the same as in the guide you shared.
3. Is there any limit on the number of VM's that can be backed up ?
Don't think so; not on the StarWind CVM side.
4. Post backing up into the local_backup_repository, can I replicate these to Amazon S3 bucket ?
Yes. You can try using StarWind Cloud replicator JSON.
