Can anyone tell me if the following is possible:
I'd like to run 2 freenas (or FreeBSD) servers with a Starwind Free VM running on each to use the freenas pool as my "direct attached" storage. Basically, I'm trying to take advantage of the ZFS file system and use SW as my HA solution running 2 nodes.

Any thoughts?

Or, is there a better way for a DIY, ZFS HA solution (without paying for appliances). This is a home lab (to start) and then home storage once I've gotten comfortable with the solution.

Technically, it should work.

Hi!

That sound complex and provides a lot of space for problems, where nobody can help you.

I would avoid to combine the two products.

Correct, that is why I wrote that technically should work :)
