MSCS Cluster - Mount disk iSCSI Failed in Node2
Posted: Thu Nov 02, 2006 5:32 pm
Hi,
We want to create a cluster MSCS SQL Server 2005 with two nodes which reach the same data via discs iSCSI.
But When the server node2 is started, the discs iSCSI are restored automatically but they are not readable.
In the mmc Disk Management, the two discs iSCSI are marked unreadable.
We have a disc iSCSI for the data of SQL Server 2005 with the letter P: and a disc iSCSI for the quorum with the letter Q:.
Here our architecture:
- 1 server NAS with Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 EN x64. On this waiter, we installed StarWind 3.1.4 and we created 2 IBvolume image.
The first image is for the data of SQL Server and the second image is for the quorum.
On this waiter we have 4 disc SAS in RAID 5.
- 2 server SQL Server with Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise EN x64 (SQL1 and SQL2), Microsoft iSCSI Initiator v2.02 and Cluster Service MSCS.
On these two servers, we have map the first disc on the letter P (data) and the second disc on the letter Q (quorum).
On the two servers the service of Cluster MSCS is installed and is configured.
Here how we configured the installation of cluster MSCS on the two machines:
- Shutdown SQL2 and connect to SQL1
- configure Microsoft iSCSI Initiator to connect to two disc iSCSI
- Initialize iSCSI Devices as basic disks.
- When Initialize is completed, create and format new NTFS partition and select drive letter.
- Repeat this procedure for each disk.
- Shut down this server (SQL1). When this server is completely shut down, restart the cluster node 2 server (SQL2).
- configure Microsoft iSCSI Initiator to connect to two disc iSCSI
- The two disks that were formatted on the cluster node 1 server should now appear without any drive letter mounted to them.
Change the drive letter to correspond to those that were used when these drives were formatted.
- Shut down the cluster node 2 server (SQL2). When the cluster node 2 server is completely shut down, restart the cluster node 1 server (SQL1).
- Configuring Microsoft Cluster Service (Name of cluster, account, ..). Configure first node on SQL1
- Add new node : Turn on the cluster node 2 server (SQL2).
- Adding new node is ok, but MSCS don't find disk P: (data) and disk Q: (quorum) because is unreadable.
I try to restart SQL2 and SQL1 but it's the same result.
Do you have an idea of the resolution of the problem?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best regards,
Nicolas COLLET.
