When I run Disk Management I can't access my local drives.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Try to change "LogLevel = 1" to "LogLevel = 3" in StarWind.conf, restart StarWindService and show the log file you get.

BTW: show the configuration file (StarWind.conf) as well.
Best regards,
Alexey.

I noticed the same problem with a 2000 Pro machine.
The disk I had tested to use as an export did not show up in Disk Management even when I had removed the binding in the StarWind manager and rebooted the machine.
Furthermore Disk Manager took a very long time to initialise and show that disks where missing, the disk does however show up fine in the Logical Disk view and in Explorer!?
After stopping the StarWind service the disk shows up fine in Disk Manager...

What version (and build number) of StarWind do you use?
Best regards,
Alexey.

Alex,

you're 100% correct -- we just *NEED* version numbers published on the site. With a 20 pt numbers. I'll kick webmaster.

hi,

just found this stuff and tried it... Looks great, by the way :)

But I do have that problem too, meaning when opening the disk management, it does not open if having the StarWind Service running... :?:

Version is 2.4.1 0x20040915

Are there any SPTI devices mounted with StarWind Service in the case?

Does the Disk Manager work OK if none of StarWind's SPTI devices are mounted?

StarWind opens SPTI devices (such as CD/DVD writer and discs) in exclusive mode to prevent data corruption where the device is accessed from the liocal system and a remote initiator.

Hi,

The issue with locking of the Disk Manager is fixed in the recent StarWind v2.4.2 (build 0x20041020)

Also SPTI devices are locked only when an initiator connected to them. So you can use them locally without stopping the StarWind service.

Please download the new version from our site.
