VSAN Free for VSphere - NFS

Hi everyone,

Have been trying to create on the VSAN Free (VSphere centos appliance build 15260) an NFS share but the web gui does not provide such functionality, neither there are any powershell scripts. The text-based ui is also not available from the console. Is there any other way to do this or is the NAS functionality not available? According to https://www.starwindsoftware.com/vsan-free-vs-paid SMB/NFS is available in the VSAN Free version.

Thanks for your question!
NFS share is not present in CentOS-based appliances. Please download the CVM OVF to use NFS shares.

Thanks for the reply. When downloading the VSAN Free this is what the email link provided me with downloading which is the centos appliance. Is there a different ova for VSAN Free which is different than the centos one? Can you provide me with a link?

Thanks for reply. I downloaded normal VirtualSAN and installed the VSAN Free license and seems to be working ok with the limitations that are documented.

Is this correct?

Indeed i can create shares but what i was looking for is for highly available shares. I know this can be done using a Windows File Server cluster with starwind VSAN. There is no way doing this on the CVM? Shares are created on the volume which is not highly available.

Hi Theologis,

Sadly shares are not HA. True, you can build a highly available device and present it over iSCSI to the File Server.
