I have a starwind server in a network with 3260 open to it from public ip address. the starport client connects to it and can use the lun, however it takes about 45mins to format a 35GB lun.

Has anyone else tried to use iscsi over nat?

worked fine previously using wintarget . just had to script connect the microsoft iscsi client...

Now that I am using starwind/starport... everything seems much slower..

any comments?

The target server is hosting 1 lun 35GB and its a quad xeon 700 with 4gb ram with gig fiber nic to 5Mbps/384kbps internet connection

The client is a xeon 2.4 with 4gb on a 4Mbps/4mbps internet connection

Hi,

Your internet connection speed is rather low for comfortable iSCSI work.
I suspect there are some timeout conditions with StarWind + StarPort over such a slow TCP/IP connection.
Could you send me the StarWind Service log file?

Also you could try using the MS iSCSI initiator with StarWind. It should answer the question which software (StarWind or StarPort) is to blame for the slow iSCSI operations...
Best regards,
Valeriy
