[*]Hey, today it´s my first setup for the free version. Using Server 2022 Standard Edition

I setup a hyper-v enviroment according to this guide:
https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resour ... chine-cvm/

I downloaded the VSAN CVM image and extracted the vhdx file.

I created the the VM in Gen2 and attached the existing disk. But the virtual machine will not start at all.

When I import the complete maschine, which I downloaded - the created machine is Gen1.

Any ideas what to do ? Leave Gen1 ?

Greetings Chris,

Welcome to StarWind Forum! Yes, please leave it GEN1.

So, I will not create my own virtual machine in hyper-v and use the complete downloaded version - or should I create a new vm and just select Gen1 ?

HI,

You can use the template and GEN1 as is. That is the intended way of using it, I believe. Also, we might improve the VM as the GEN2.

P.S. You can also try bare-metal version (or just use that one as the console) https://starwind.com/tmplink/starwind-v8.exe
