Just deployed latest version of StarWind SAN & NAS Free VMware Appliance. I have configured and created pools, volumes etc through Web console.
But need to login into Appliance Console (Shell). Strange thing is, after I type username the curson does not go to password.
Due to which I am not able to type password to login into shell.

Hi,

Try the following:
1. Please try using putty
2. Try rebooting the VM.

I have tried through putty but it does not connect via putty also. I started the SSH service from settings panel. I could login into SSH.
Since I am evaluating

1. I have not integrated it with VMware vCenter. Skipped the integration.
2. Only Management network configured and data network is not configured.
3. Using DHCP IP, which changes every time

I do not think these should create any issues but still thought of mentioning it here.

I am trying to enable Auto tiering in StarWind SAN & NAS Free VMware Appliance.
I have created 50 TB RAID 10 NL-SAS & 1 TB NVMe Raid 1 storage pools.

https://forums.starwindsoftware.com/vie ... f=5&t=5329

How do I configure L1 & L2 cache or auto-tiering?

Hi,

I am not sure if SAN and NAS support automated storage tiering, the thread you linked is rather about StarWind VSAN, not SAN and NAS. Also, please assign static IPs to all adapters.
Caching is a tricky question, and here I'd like to make sure we are on the same page. In StarWind (more at https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... rinciples/), L1 cache stands for RAM cache while L2 cache is SSD. Please also note that L1 cache (i.e., RAM cache) is not recommended for standalone (i.e., single-node)deployments. In other words, you can have RAM cache, SSD cache, and slower storage. Automated data transition occurs between these three with no additional settings. Hope, I explained it well :)
If you still would like to enable caching, please let me know.

Can you please attach the screenshot of what the issue with the login screen looks like?

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Following post mentions about L1/L2 cache in StarWind SAN & NAS Free appliance.

https://forums.starwindsoftware.com/vie ... f=5&t=5966

I assume following post refers to both vSAN and SAN-NAS. To make changes it describes of making modifications to *.swdsk file.

https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... /661/#add1

The *.swdsk is can not be located anywhere on the disk.

Deploying 2 SAN & NAS, but unable to add a successful parent node. It shows that the host was also found, but after adding it, it fails. Additionally, the high availability network card configuration button cannot be operated, indicating that there is no license

I have already tried "Enter", "Tab", "Space Bar" but then it's not working. Anyways, I connected using SSH.

My Main concern is setting up L1, L2 Caching or Auto-Tiering.

Greetings,
The link seems to be broken.
May I wonder if you have already provisioned storage? In other words, did you move further in the process of storage configuration than creating RAID?
To locate swdsk, you can use StarWind Management Console from https://www.starwindsoftware.com/tmplin ... ind-v8.exe. Install it on a Windows Machine (select the Management Console option when installing).
For free license, it should still allow for monitoring (i.e., let you see the devices' location).

We have a very simple objective.:-

Use NL-SAS/SAS Capacity drives for Storage (Cold data) and NVMe for caching (Hot data).

For which we have done following...

1. I have installed StarWind SAN & NAS Free.
2. I have created RAID 10 for NL-SAS drives (50 TB) & RAID 1 for NVMe (1 TB).
3. I am connected to the StarWind SAN & NAS Free VM using Putty
4. Now I want to configure L1 & L2 Cache for which I need to edit *.swdsk which I am not able to locate.
5. I have read on forum that on StarWind SAN & NAS Free we can configure L1/L2 cache and use it for data autotiering.

The management and operation of web pages are not convenient, and the disk and pool often disappear, so it is necessary to constantly refresh the web pages
