Hi,

so I'm planning to my very first StarWind VSAN for Hyper-V Update on 2 nodes.

Version V8 (build 14398) ---> Version V8 (build 15020)

I already read the manual: https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... d-version/
And also watched a video from StarWind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XRN0OG ... l=StarWind

My questions:
- Will updating cause a full synchronization? I want to avoid downtime as much as possible. I know the video showed no downtime but I just want to make sure.
- Which package should I choose during installation? I don't remember if I chose the full installation (I most likely did). Would it harm to go full installation no matter what?
- Should I disconnect the iSCSI targets on the node I am updating beforehand?
My procedure:
> Put Node 1 to maintenance mode and move storage and VMs to Node 2
> Disconnect iSCSI Targets on Node 1, close StarWind Management Console and install StarWind Update Full Package
> Reconnect iSCSI Targets, Start StarWind Management Console and wait for synchronization
> Repeat on Node 2

Since this is my first time and we have 40TB+ of data, I really wanna be sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks much--

No, if the correct update procedure is followed.

You can use full installation or just select StarWind Server option from the dropdown list.
- Should I disconnect the iSCSI targets on the node I am updating beforehand?
No. This step is only for builds that have it mentioned in release notes. Please see the release notes for 15020 https://www.starwindsoftware.com/release-notes-build.

The procedure you shared is not correct and is likely to cause downtime. Please see more about StarWind Maintenance Mode https://www.starwindsoftware.com/help/M ... eMode.html.
The update procedure normally looks exactly as it is described here https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... d-version/
1. Make sure HA devices are synchronized.
2. Make sure HA devices are connected on both servers over iSCSI from both mirrors.
3. Run the FlushCacheAll.ps1 script (C:\Program Files\StarWind Software\StarWind\StarWindX\Samples\powershell) if you have any cache.
4. Pause the node that undergoes an update in the cluster and drain the resources.
5. Stop SarWindService on the node that undergoes the udpate.
6. Run the installer.
7. Wait for fast sync to complete.
8. Repeat 1-7 to the remaining node.
