Hello! I just downloaded the StarWind Shareware and can connect via StarPort, but not the MS Initiator. I am trying to standardize on MS for customers already using it. I can send my .conf if needed. Please help!

Thanks!

The MS Initiator errors out with:

"The iSCSI Name specified contains invalid characters or is too long."

Here is the StarWind log:

Hi Karl,

I suspect the MS initiator does not like strings like 'rocket_test' as a target's name. The underscore symbol is not allowed in a canonic iSCSI names.

Please try to use the default target name or a name without '_' symbols (like 'test').

Thanks Valery!

I had missed that after I renamed the target root!! it is now connecting and working perfectly! I am very impressed with Starwind. Great product at an amazing price. My only prior experience was with iSCSI via the Cisco MDS 9509 with a Muli-protocol blade.

One last question, do you have an extensive User guide available?

Hi,

I'm glad it works for you.

You could find more datails about using StarWind in its online help.
We are working on the extended documentation for StarWind 3.0.

Thank you for using our software.
Best regards,
Valeriy
