Cannot add Target

Hi,
I am new to StarWind. Just downloaded and installed StarWind Free on a regular Win10 system. StarWind Management Console works fine, my computer is correctly shown as the first server. I want to add the C-drive of my Win10 system as a iSCSI-target. However, the entry Add Target under the Target tab is greyed out. I must have missed something while configuring the server, but I need a little help.
Thanks, Roel

Hi Roel,

Welcome to StarWind forum. StarWind on Win 10 is not supported (see https://www.starwindsoftware.com/system-requirements).
Here is the guide https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resour ... rver-2016/ (you can create an image file with no replication if you have nowhere to replicate).

Let's be realistic. Almost nobody is going to use Starwind for anything more than proof of concept iSCSI. Having to deploy it on a Winows Server is silly, considering that the Server already has the built in iSCSI as Target functionality. Add to it this too: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtua ... csi-target

Hi,

Thank you for the article. I am afraid that you are missing many cool features of VSAN, e.g., high availability, out of your view. StarWind VSAN is more than just an iSCSI target. It is a software to virtualize not only the storage but also RAM of your servers. Find out more about caching in VSAN https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... rinciples/.
Furthermore StarWind VSAN is not a Windows-Server-only soulution for a while already.
