Does the Starwind License shall remain in effect in perpetuity ?

Years ago, we acquired StarWind Virtual SAN Enterprise Edition, the last version that we have installed before paid support ended was V8 build 9996 (25 August 2016).

Can I use that license to update at least to V8 build 11818 (19 December 2017) which it’s the one that provides the new Maintenance Mode or even better the latest V8 build 13861 (07 October 2020)?

For economic reasons, without the paid support, what would be the restrictions to use the license for upcoming updates?

Thank you.

Greetings Jose,

Thank you for your question. If you hold the perpetual key, it never expires. Support does though. Here is the update procedure https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... d-version/. Could you tell me your OS version?
Without the active support contract, you will need to perform the whole procedure on your own and we will not be able to assist you in case of an emergency.

You are always welcome! Please make sure to have Windows Server updates installed before StarWind VSAN installation. The latest build can be installed on 2012 R2 provided that you have the latest updates in place.
If there is no expiry period, you have a perpetual key.
