Hi chell,
From the logs you have provided before, I see that LSFS drive was created in 11818 StarWind build.
Did you roll-back to 11456 build and created drive there?
Also, I am waiting for logs.

Hi

I was able to mount the drive correctly and then after a reboot I lost it again. I have now attached the files to my starwind license to attempt to rescue the data.
The two hosts have been split. Prior to the reboot Host 1 marked HAimage2 as not synchronized and started a re sync. I have mounted the file, some of the data is readable. The file on host 2 was working fine prior to the reboot, starwind would not mount it after the reboot. I had to remove the flash cache in order to mount the drive. The drive is now showing as raw again. When i attempt to do a chkdsk on it stops with the error that the filesystem is refs. its not, the drive was reformed as ntfs after the first time I had troubles.
I don't see why loosing the flash cache would alter the data, or result in older data being displayed.
I flushed the cache prior to the reboot.
why would corrupt flash cache prevent a drive from mounting. since its only cached data i thought starwind would just recreate the file.

logs (one set before the reboot and one after)

i haven't change the starwind version. its build 8.0.0.11456 (as shown in help about)
I don't think starwind is shutting down correctly. Could the long shutdown delay be caused by the 500GB flash cache?

Thanks

Hi chell,
Sorry for my mistake with StarWind build, yes, you have 11456.
I see you have two different clusters.
I need to investigate the logs, it will take some time.

Hi chell,
According to the logs, we see problems with the VM-Storage device. Could you please clarify, what is the size of VM-Storage.spvmap file? If the size of .spvmap and .splumap files more than 4 Gb, you can try:
1) Back up all data from the device;
1) Stop StarWindService previously flushing cache with FlushCacheAll.ps1 script from StarWindX PowerShell examples folder: C:\Program Files\StarWind Software\StarWind\StarWindX (available in 11818 build);
2) Delete .splumap and .spvmap extension in folders where failed devices located in case of their size more than 4 Gb;
3) Start Starwind service;
4) Wait for the mounting progress.

These issues should be fixed in the next StarWind build. Since you have these issues, I would recommend you recreate the device with StarWind standard .img device and move the data from the problem device for now.

what is a StarWind standard .img device? do you mean a thick device?

since my last post I recreated the vm-storage drive as a 1tb lsfs drive without duplex and a 8tb lsfs drive without duplex. Also changed the storage from a raid 6 to raid 10.
Host2 is working fine. Host1 sync for a little while and then starwind goes offline. Starwind doesn't respond until the server is rebooted. Restarting the starwind service does not help. There are no errors in the logs that I can see.
The last time I rebooted host1 starwind started syncing then went off line. It also corrupted the starwind drives on host2 which were working fine.

That's right, there are solutions to the problem. This issue is similar to CHKDSK is not available for Raw driver. Using disk error checking and formatting the D drive will be an effective solution.

Thank you, but I do not see ReFS in the list of available options for recovery.
