I'm trying to read the documentation that comes with StarWind. In C:\Program Files\StarWind Software\StarWind\StarWindX\Help there is compiled help docs. I opened it and tried to read the section titled "High Availability device -- The following topic describes how to create HA device on two nodes", but when I try to open it I just get a message saying:

"Created with a commercial version of Doc-O-Matic. In order to make this message disappear you need to register this software. If you have problems registering this software please contact us at support@toolsfactory.com."

Now, I frankly don't really care if that message appears or not, so long as I can see your documentation, but it looks like that imprecise message is intended to mean that I cannot do so unless I register it somehow.

If I follow the link to https://www.doc-o-matic.com/en/index.html I get a page that says nothing about registration.

Is that really the intended behaviour by StarWind? Is this a for-fee registration? If not, how do we access the help documentation. And why the *&^(* isn't it documented?

Hello, Ken, and thank you for your question. I assume you are referring to .chm file. If so, please right-click it, go to Properties and select "Unblock" the file. I hope it will help.

Thanks Sergey, but there are two problems with that suggestion.

First, following your steps, there is no "unblock" Option when I right-click on the .CHM file. I'm familiar with the option you refer to, because I see it occasionally on downloaded executables, but -- it's not there.

Secondly, I don't have a problem opening the .CHM file. The problem comes when I try to look at certain help items. Not all of them, mind you, only some of them.

I'll tell you what. It occurs to me that I may have made a false assumption -- that there is more documentation in the help than I'm seeing, that is being hidden by that message. It may actually be that the help is simply not there, and the message is literally accurate. It would help to know!

I'm going to attach couple of screenshots of what I'm seeing. Please let me know -- is there "no there there"? Is the "How to create HA device" help just an empty decoy?

Ok, wallewek, now I know what you are referring to. I have to admit, yes, there is such an issue. We will update documentation in further updates. I would recommend you checking our built-in help. Just open StarWind Management Console, go to Help --> Help Topics, or just press F1. Also, we have much more informative StarWind Knowledge Base on our website. Thanks Sergey, that clears up the confusion!
