Is it possible to access the files within a .img file directly from File Explorer, if so how?

Hello cjchilling,
Thanks for interesting in StarWind solution
We do not recommend to do it, but you can mount StarWind img file with software which can mount image files as disk and open this with Hex-editor software.

Does this mean that once you have transferred a file (123.txt) to a Starwind CSV imagefile (csv01.img)
the only way of copying file 123.txt from the image csv01.img is by having
1. Microsoft Failover Cluster software installed on two servers (serverA, serverB))
2. Starwinds software installed on the same two servers (serverA, serverB)
3. Creating a Starwind Device on serverA (Device01) and adding the csv01.img to DeviceA
4. Letting Starwind sync the csv01.img to the serverB
5. Adding Device01 as a cluster aware disk to the Failover Cluster
6. Accessing 123.txt via the new ClusterAware drive on the Failover Cluster as \\serverA\C$\ClusterStorage\Volume1\123.txt

Is the no simpler way of getting to file 123.txt?

For instance, is it possible to convert the csv01.img into .vdhx format and then mounting the drive in Windows?

Hello cjchilling,
You can mount this device via iSCSI as a local drive and write/read information to this device.
Also, you can convert StarWind .img file to vhd or vhdx file via StarWind V2V Converter
