Hello:
I use the starwind virtualsan free, established 3 HADevice, but every 24 hours, starwind will disconnect all connected, all HADevice are not available, you must restart the server again only after connection, and re synchronization of all HADevice.
Thanks!!!

I have four servers:
2 servers:
windows Server 2012 R2,installed virtual san and made 3 HADevices ,there're 4 x NICs(1 x 1GB for SYNC,1 x 100MB for HB,2 x 1GB for iSCSI)
2 servers:
Windows Server 2012 R2 ,Microsoft Failover Cluster ,Hyper-V ,there're 3 x NICs(1 x 1GB for cluster and clients and iSCSI,1 x 100MB for only cluster,1 x 1GB for only iSCSI).
1 HADevice was use for witness,2 HADevices was use for CSVs.
Thanks.

There is also a situation, when the HADevice does not work, I restart the server will find Starwind virtual San service can not stop, the server almost half an hour to restart successfully, then HADevice will be re synchronization.

Please help, thank you.

Hello gentlemen,
Thanks for your answers.
Could you share with us your logs?
You can collect them by our .bat file which you can download by following next link: https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... ogs-bat-2/
Dear swigle,
What the Status of devices in StarWind management console or through example powershell script? Is this "Not Synchronized" on both nodes when you faced with this issue?

Hi Ivan:
I suspect that this is due to a license. I was using a 30 day trial license before April 26th, and there was no such thing. Due in April 26th after I replaced the free license, and upgraded my starwind virtual San to the latest version, then the nightmare begins, every 24 hours, starwind virtual San will stop all services until you restart the server and synchronize by GetHASyncState.ps1.
Please help me to confirm whether this is the reason, I very much hope to be resolved as soon as possible.
Thanks!!

so i began with the free license and used the gui in the 30day window to configure everything. it all worked great until the trial expired, now every morning i have to restart the starwind service and re-run the gethasyncstate.ps1 copies that i made for both storage and witness drives. this morning was interesting, because i figured that something just needed to tell it to check it's sync, so i have those scripts running every hour on task scheduler. but still this morning i had to restart services and re run the sync after that. i could not prevent it from going offline. 20 minutes before it went offline this morning the ps1 scripts said both sides were synchronized.

i have collected logs, however i cannot upload them here as it is telling me the max attachment size is 256KB, logs zips are 2.9MB and 12.7MB, how should i upload them?

hardware is a pair of matching DL380 g9's with p440ar controllers, 6x 4TB drives as a single array with two logical disks (boot and data), on board GBe quad ports are designated as a host adapter and 3 vswitches in the 192.168.20.x subnet and a 2port 10GBe card in 10.100.20.x and 10.100.21.x and dedicated to synchronization. running server 2012 r2 standard as a failover cluster.
two ha devices configured between them one witness one storage.

also of interest, the synchronization will not use more than 2gb of the 10gb links, at least that gives me 4gb, but it would be nice if it could use more.

Guys ping me offline using anton AT starwind DOT com and I'll get you in touch with developers and support people. Just use this thread as a reference.

Making long story short: it should NOT work the way it works for you. Needs to be fixed! Lets do that :) Thank you for cooperation!

we have the same problem in testing enviroment. Starwind is installed on 1VM only, without any special setting (1 disk only). ISCSI connection hangs every 24 hours. We think that there is a problem in licensing:

5/10 17:49:26.611 3a4 Srv: *LICENSE* Revalidation - License expired.
5/10 17:49:26.611 3a4 Srv: License expired. Refreshing...
5/10 17:49:26.611 3a4 Srv: Target iqn.2008-08.com.starwindsoftware:win-vcgclqtq2lh-target1: Stopping session 0x1 from.....

and after restart proper free license is found.

Thank you for solution.

This sounds an awful lot like what happened to me. Had the 30 day trial licence installed. Upgraded and applied the free licence. 30 days after, everything went to hell. Volumes offline in vSphere, to the point where I had to restore from backups. Still rebuilding half of it.

Managed to use the GUI to re-apply the free licence, which them promptly kicked me out of the GUI.

Managed to find the GetHASyncStatus script, and get things back up.

But now my vSphere shows 300GB free on a 1TB volume, and everything is saying "no space left on disk". Can't seem to find any actually good PowerShell tools to Get-Status or anything. The extendImageFile script doesn't seem to be doing anything, though I can't seem to find a "Get-ImageFile" type of command to validate it at all.

At least mine isn't stopping the HA device any more :(

i have not heard back yet, but digging through the logs i found this in starwindservicelog

5/9 8:38:50.320 12b0 Srv: *LICENSE* Rejected iSCSI connection to 10.100.20.10:3260 from 10.100.20.11:60167.Maximum of 0 allowed clients already connected to the server!

zero clients allowed? that could be the issue.... i have already reapplied licenses, but the problem persists.

Hello akorolev,
Could you please collect the logs from SAN servers with the script from KB article here:https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... ogs-bat-2/
and log a support case here with logs:https://www.starwindsoftware.com/support-form
Thank you!
