I had set up my Starwind VSAN in 2 node storage cluster per instructions, and it (seems to be) working fine. However in set up I was thrown a tiny bit because Microsoft Fail Over Cluster Manager wanted its own CSV network connection, and this wasn't mentioned in the directions. I added 2 direct connect Cat 6 cables for a 2 node cluster just to be sure. Is a dedicated connection needed? Or can I use the main TCIP Network? or is all the traffic routed over the Starwind iSCSI connections? and this will sit there useless?

Hello Van Rue,
It is recommended do not use StarWind networks for Cluster communication and Live Migration process.
I hope Microsoft article will answer to your question: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/lib ... s.10).aspx

I am more specifically looking at data volume requirements of MS CSV communitcations. I had 2 extra 1gb ports so I teamed them for Cluster communications. But I don't know if this is overkill, or I can just use the main LAN. How much data goes along this path in Starwind scenario? Not much I assume.

Hi,

Basically, StarWind using only two types of networks for communication: Synchronization and Heartbeat. In case if you are using the Team above for the StarWind Heartbeat network, it will consume several MB per day, so you are correct, not much :)
