Greetings Starwind COmmunity,

I have being using starwind vsan's free license for a few months now, and just signed up to the forums to expand my knowledge on the Starwind product and to help me on my day to day occurrences.

I had a lsfs disk that was attached to two hosts for quite sometime, and lost connectivity to the storage from the esxi hosts and vcenter, i tried many steps to get it connect, online, and accessible. I could go through those details, but I'd like to fast forward for now, and give you the current state and some logs to help solve the mystery of why I can't attach an existing lsfs disk back onto my starwind server and then eventually to my hosts.

The error message I get is "Failed to Create Device".

Now within the scope of attaching the device, ive tried read only, ive built a new starwind server and tried to attach it to that, ive tried to attached it to the existing target, a new one, and unassigned as well and im sure several other troubleshooting steps.

One of the most important questions I have is from these logs and was wondering if anyone has come across this before and what it really means when it states "underlying storage not found"

FileBrowser: Return param: 'FileSize' = 'Failed: invalid path provided'
7/10 15:01:06.001 1330 FileBrowser: Return param: 'FileSize' = '4096'
7/10 15:01:06.001 1330 FileBrowser: Return param: 'FileSize' = 'Failed: invalid path provided'
7/10 15:01:06.001 1330 FileBrowser: Return param: 'FileSize' = '4096'
7/10 15:01:06.001 1330 FileBrowser: Return param: 'CheckExists' = 'Completed'
7/10 15:01:09.686 1330 Srv: * Underlying storage not found. (May be it has not been added yet?)
7/10 15:01:09.686 1330 conf: Underlying storage not found. (May be it has not been added yet?)

Lastly, I've compared the swdsk file with an old backup of it and the config looks the same and I've also tried to attach a backup of the storage disk and that as well has failed. There might be something im missing here and quite cant get a grasp of it.

I can give more details, but thought I'd start here.

Cheers.

Try to delete LSFS device(not the physical one) and create new device based on existing files.
