Every so often, the webserver running starport will 'lose' it's connection to the storage server running starwind. This happens almost like clockwork. There is nothing wrong phyiscally, or configuration-wise. Every time it loses the connection, I have to reboot the Starwind machine, remove the device from the management tab, and readd it, then readd it on the StarPort machine. Still, it doesn't work. The only way to get it to work is to remove the device completely, and readd it on the StarWind server with a different target name. This is getting frustrating, as there are several mission-critical clients relying on this data being consistent. The specifications are as follows:

StarWind on Windows 2000 Advanced Server with latest service packs:
700MHz Athlon
512MB RAM
3x200GB ATA100 Drives on a Promise SX4000 in RAID0 (this is the actual device I'm trying to use as an iscsi target)
gigabit NIC to gigabit switch

The StarPort machine is Windows 2003 Enterprise with latest service packs:
2.8GHz Pentium 4
1GB RAM
gigabit NIC to gigabit switch

Please help.

Hi,

What versions of StarWind and StarPort do you use?

Could you please send me your StarWind.conf file and the StarWind Service log file to analyze?

What is the target's type? (an SPTI mapped harddrive or an ImageFile)
Best regards,
Valeriy
