Any news yet? I'm not sure it really matters for us ATM, since Pernix is killing it on the frontside. It would be nice not to have to pay that renewal.

Hello Darren,
The V8 R5 is almost ready. Unfortunately, we have got some delay here because our Quality Assurance department found issues in GUI. It is currently on the fixing.
We will keep you updated.

Hello everybody,
We are happy to inform that StarWind V8 R5 release candidate build is available via the following link: http://tmplink.starwind.com/StarWind_8. ... 170124.exe. Please keep in mind that this build is not for Production yet, but we would appreciate any feedback from you.
The iSER functionality can be turned on specified network interface in StarWind Management Console from the server Configuration tab->Network.
Also, in case you will face any issues with this build, please do not hesitate directly submitting a support ticket with the problem description. Make sure to mention you are using RC build as well as the forum thread reference you have got it from.

Ok I'll give it a shot with the NVMe cards and post results. Is the Linux distro soon to be beta? It would be interesting to compare.

Is there any documentation or explanation of what has been improved? iSER would just accelerate off-node operations. Has on-node been accelerated as well?

Thanks,

Kevin

iSER won't accelerate anything, it offloads CPU from transfers (OK, if CPU is 100% used iSER does accelerate but indirectly).

Both off-none and cross-link (backbone) use iSER.

It will be released in a week or two.

We won't do stand-alone Linux distribution, it will be VSA (at least initially).

We have some NVME-drives in our Starwind-nodes, and I'm wondering if there are any performance tests on NVME-drives + Starwind with the latest release vs previous release.
As we have no problems with the current version, I see no reason to upgrade unless there are performane gains etc.

Hello!
At this point, we face with a problem that ESXi iSCSI Initiator performance is bounded by CPU and limited by the performance of one core on ESXi host. In our lab, on 4K random reads we got only 150000 IOPS. Currently, we are looking for the possible solution of it.
On the other hand, we have got very nice results with MS iSCSI Initiator!

Vitaliy - which version do you get the best IOPS with?
