I'm looking to create a 2 node setup with solusvm. virtual san free looks like a perfect match.

Can I Install this on a centos box? does it expose iscsi volumnes? do I mount an NFS volume?

how about the interconnect between the two boxes? can I pick the network I want? I have some FC cards that can do IP so I'd probably want to utilize those if the free version could be configured to use a separate network connection.

StarWind Virtual SAN Free can be installed only on the physical machine running Windows OS (2012 R2 is highly recommended). So if you plan to go with dedicated setup, you should be fine.

In the case of CentOS, you can try to run StarWind inside a VM. Obviously, you will need KVM in order to do this and a full version of StarWind that is capable of working inside a VM.

Interconnection is the best choice so using your IP over FC directly connected cards will give you the best performance.
