Hi,

This is for all users of LSFS & StarWind.

Is anyone here using LSFS in production? What's your setup like? any problems?
If you are not using LSFS, what are you using(even if it's not StarWind)?

What is the current status of LSFS ?
What's the status on defrag & dedup with LSFS?

Hi, mate.

I've got LSFS up and running in two different locations:

1) Standalone LSFS device with deduplication. No caching, since the server where StarWind runs is an old HP ProLiant box having little RAM in it. Just for backup and file sharing purposes. I am happy with how it works and dedupes.

2) Mirrored LSFS device with deduplication. It's running on two old servers with 4 x SATA 7k 1TB WD drives in RAID5. Caching was disabled a while ago during support session with starwind guys since it was causing performance degradation on my hardware instead of boosting it up. I believe this will be fixed in the upcoming build. There were some issues with mounting these devices after a hard shutdown due to a power outage. Basically, mounting of the device was stuck and I had to recreate the replica from the other healthy node. Now got UPS for both of the servers. No problems anymore. A customer is running some multiple legacy DBs (like DBF and same shit whatever) on this device with a lot of small random writes. Their DB guy told me it literally "performs like hell".
