Hi toneal,

If I got it correct you need an iSCSI target that is able to perform auto reset to the previous state on a client reconnect?

The recent StarWind package does not contain such a feature.
But we've implemented an additional plug-in for the service (called IBVolume), that allows to do what you asked.

The plug-in is being tested in our test labs.
We're not sure now will it be a part of the next StarWind release or will be an optional add-on distributed separately.

If you need the the auto-reset feature please contact our management on mailto:support@starwind.com

It would take some time until we'll complete the full-cycle tests... Do you want to have preview version?

:D i have the same problem

then i set the --readonly=yes i can't play games in the virtual disk it clued on "medium is protected " because it will create same temp files them play games

then i set readonly=no all of the changes will be saved and i can't open the disk on server

does the "ibv" only support for "img" ? does it support harddisk ?
how to converting ibv to ImageFile ?

Hi,

1) As a work around you could try to move temporary files to a different drive.

2) The IBVolume plug-in will be released in next 2 weeks as a part of new StarWind 3.0. The version will support convertion IBVolumes to ImageFiles and vice versa.

thankyou

1) not just temp file , same games often update

2) i wish ibv support harddisk too

in china ,there are same iscsi software .every client has a workdirectory, then client reboot ,the workdirectory will be cleared.
the server can designate a "super user" .
"super user" can update the date in the client which was designated
administrator also can update in server directly ,no need to stop the iscsi service.

Hi,

I see your point.
The recent IBVolume should be able to work as you need in one of its modes.

Thank you for the link, we'll look at the software.

Valery,

Does this mean, if 5 clients connect, they can all have their own reads/writes to a shared image without actually changing the master image, just like other guys do?

Yves,

Yes, the new IBVolume plug-in supports sharing the same readonly master volume between several clients. Just create a cloned volume for each client and mount it...
