Microsoft ISCSI Initiator and OS hang after switch targets

We have a problem with the Microsoft ISCSI initiator which is at this point turning our attention to using StarWind ISCSI initiator. Whenever we have two ISCSI targets set-up and we disconnect from one ISCSI target and activate the second ISCSI target and then scan the disks in Windows Disk Management, the OS gets unresponsive and the system hangs for well over an hour, the desktop locks up, etc. Seems like some severe timeouts happen with the disk subsystem after trying to connect to the second ISCSI target. Has anyone ever seen this? Should I be able to switch back and for between ISCSI targets, scan the disks, etc. without the OS locking up. I am using Windows 2008 Storage Server.

Thanks
Alex

Hi Alexm,
This could be caused by the drives use by the OS or an application.
Does the drive enter offline state ok before disconnecting?

Hey Alexm

The problem may be with the storage server software.
are you able to test with a WIn 2008 R2 ?

Good suggestion BTW.

2OP: Are you connecting to StarWind (what verson? logs?) or Microsoft iSCSI target?
