It's OK to allocate 60%-80% of free physical RAM w/o risking to put machine into deep paging on random memory usage spikes. So I'd stick with say 60% and wait until V6 with dedicated cache manager will be released.

What's the maximum amount of system write cache that tends to be useful for an individual LUN?

Thanks, that's good info to have.

Any timeline on V6? we're still a few weeks to a month out from going live.

Go with the current stable version. For now V5.6 (about to be released), V5.7 (beta) and at least V5.7 (very early alpha, not all features are stabilized) are on the schedule before V6 (completely new core design) is going to be released even for first public beta.

Does V5.6 or V5.7 improve the HA write speed per LUN discussed earlier in this thread?

I think it will be released in V6, while latest releases of 5.x will be aimed on extending functionality.
