I’ve downloaded and installed the current version of StarWind on a Windows 2003 sp2 server.

After adding the local server to the management console, I’m unable to connect. I receive the following errors:

When using basic authentication:
Connection Failed: Cannot connect to the server: username or password is invalid.

When using anonymous:
Connection Failed: Cannot connect to the server: username or password is invalid.

When using CHAP:
Connection appears to work, but the server remains dimmed out and the console reports a status of “Not Logged In”

I’ve tried adding the local server by server name, by IP address and by using 127.0.0.1.

I’ve verified that ports 3260 and 3261 are open and available.

Any help would be appreciated.

What user name/password do you use to connect? By default it is root/starwind

Could be the problem that I had after I did an upgrade. My password was over 8 characters and it would not let me in. I had to hack the password to allow me to get into the software. Will later versions go back to allowing more that 8 characters in the password?

Sure, we were actually going to allow that in the current version, but it went the wrong way. The next minor update will have that fixed.

Thanks.
