Possible to mount an iSCSI target from same machine?

Is it possible to export an iSCSI target (e.g. a Disk Bridge) from a machine, and then use the iSCSI initiator on that same machine to connect to and use it?

Yes. Just don't export SPTI device to the same machine. Windows will BSOD.

When I try that, I get the following in the Event Log:

Disk 2 will not be used because it is a redundant path for disk 1.

This is on Win2008 Data Center Edition.

Good. So Windows 2008 has a workaround for this issue.

You can "loopback" connect to the pure virtual hardware. But not to the one mapped to the real AS IS (SPTI in 100% of the cases). Cannot do the same for DiskBridge. Virtual DVD, ImageFile, Virtual ATAPI and Virtual Tape are all OK to loopback.

Ok, so what you are saying is I must convert to an ImageFile type iSCSI target instead of the DiskBridge?

If you want to do a loopback - YES, definitely!
