Actually testing Starwind 3.5 with an ESX 3.0.2, here are a few questions.

Both are correctly connected, no problem about that ;-)

But which type of device is the best for ESX ?

For the moment, I only use image file device and disk bridge device.

And I'm not able to install a simple Win2k3 even if the lun is correctly detected/connected.

I've tryed different solutions and it's always the same result. Win2k3, when he has to boot after to have copied source files, stops with a nice blue screen (The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated with a status of 0xc000026c).

Is there a particular method to prepare a virtual machine that is hosted to this iscsi san ?

Now, I'm also making tests with WinXP and it's a little different. The result is always "WinXP did not find any hard disk"...

Thank you,

Alain

ESX 3.0.2 has broken iSCSI support. Either roll back to 3.0.1 or wait for VMware guys to release appropriate patch.
