Hi,

We currently have a Backup Exec 15 and is installed on a Windows 2012 Server. I installed the Starwind Virtua SAN on the server and the server detects the Virtual Tape drive and Virtual tape Library but not the backup exec software. I think the issue is caused by the Virtual LT0-8 drive which may not be compatible with the backup exec. Is there a way to install a Virtual LTO-7 tape drive instead?

Thanks

Regards,

Armand

by the way, the library is also not detected by the software so if there is a virtual MSL 4048 G2 library as well will appreciate it. Thanks.

LTO8 should be well.
Do you see the storage over iSCSI? Did you enable MPIO (it should be disabled, and 1x iSCSI session should be used).

Hi Yaroslav,

Thank you for your reply, the LTO8 is recognized by the Windows Server Device manager and backup exec. However, the tape drive is not supported by the software, that is why i want to try the LTO7 vtl instead. Thanks .

I was able to make it work by editing CreateVirtualTapeLibrary.ps1
Change tape type = 7
patterns [1]

and
AddVirtualTape.ps1
Change tape type = 7

BackupExec was able to detect it
