Good evening,
can we consider "stable" the latest version of the StarWind Proxmox Integration plugin on a new 2 node cluster install of Proxmox 9 fully updated with 2 Starwind VSAN vm providing ISCSI for hypercoverged LVM with vm snaphot capabilities?

We are still running test for Proxmox9.
But, from what I see in other users' systems and heard from my colleagues, VSAN + Proxmox9 should be fine. The plugin is still needed for the thin LVM. Thick LVM should support snapshots without our plugin in Proxmox9.

Thank you for the clarification.
Have you an estimated timeframe for ending the tests?

One more question,
is StarWind VSAN ready for production in a Proxmox VE 9 environment or is better keep Proxmox VE 8?

Best regards

You are welcome :)
Sadly, I don't have an ETA, but from what I heard, they should complete in 1-2 weeks.
For now, I think there's no issue running proxmox9, according to our experience.

Actually, I would like to point out that on our test system with Proxmox 9, on storage backed by Starwind x Proxmox plugin we can create snapshots, but we can't rollback them, returning the following error: "can't rollback snapshot for 'raw' volume"

Hi,

Try for thick volumes without a plugin. Thanks!

Hello yaroslav,

Actually I just find out that I already wrote that thing to an older post, and I forgot, so sorry for writing that twice.
Anyway, I could try but I read that the new "snapshot on thick volumes" has bad performance on volumes with snapshots, so I can't understand if you are asking to only try or if you are suggesting to move to thick volumes, which isn't an option because of that.

To give you more insight on the plugin error: the snapshot restore error doesn't show on thin-lvm not backed by the plugin, and they also use raw volumes.

Thank you for your help
