Are there any guides or articles on configuring and using deduplicated nvme storage with RDMA networking for proxmox hosts?

I have found guides on installing vSAN Free as a proxmox VM. However, little to no information seems to exist on:
- how to enable and use data deduplication in vSAN Free (on nvme physical storage disks)
- how to enable, verify and test RDMA is working on vSAN Free

The download page of vSAN Free web UI doesn't seem to show deduplication is supported? I tried to download the .exe binaries offered on vSAN Free settings page but I cannot get past the "upload your license" setup step since my license file is a 3 node vSAN Free.

My goal and use case is: I wish to have one server with 3x 2TB RAID5 nvme physical disks (4TB usable) that has deduplication enabled and RDMA so that two proxmox compute servers can use it as the VM shared storage.

Hi, should I deduct from the silence that either of these conditions are true?
- starwind vSAN free does not support deduplication
- starwind vSAN free does not support RDMA
- starwind does not offer a "how to" guide on testing and verifying RDMA performance using https://www.starwindsoftware.com/starwind-rperf ?

Welcome to StarWind Forum.
And sorry for the delay: this thread just came under my radar.
Sadly, there is no StarWind-native way to deduplicate StarWind shared or underlying storage.
StarWind VSAN does not work over RDMA at this moment. Even the NVMe-oF target (available in beta, reach out to us to be a part of it https://www.starwindsoftware.com/support-form) is still working over TCP.

thank you, i appreciate your response and sharing the status of the product. I guess its very hard to find an easy off the shelf open source / free solution for a small homelab like mine that has all of these features.

Hopefully in the future vSAN Free may be able to fill the gap - my other solution is debian + cockpit + VDO (https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentatio ... o_overview) and then figuring out the RDMA thing separately without GUI

It used to support VDO in the older CentOS version, yet there were interoperability issues.
Dedupe, compression, and NVMe-oF/RoCE (RDMA) support are on our to-do list.
