Hi All
I have not been able to get any star-wind set up to run stable. Every set up regardless how large or small eventually results in the drives being out of sync and getting corrupted. I already have another topic going regarding the drives getting corrupted and showing as raw.
https://forums.starwindsoftware.com/vie ... f=5&t=4941
On my two Intel servers, the lsfs drives experienced random corruption, it occurred when the two servers were configured for High availability synchronous. One server alone, one server and one asynchronous. With or without ram cache, with or without flash cache, with or without deduplication. So the last resort I set up a 4tb thick drive. It has been trying to complete its first sync for a week now. It gets a few hours into it then it restarts.
I figured it might be a compatibility issue on the servers I was using, so I set up three hyper-v virtual machines on a completely different system running windows 10 ent. These systems had windows standard 2016 core only loaded. No drivers, no updates. Just star-wind 8.0.0.11818. No network setting were configured other than fixed ip addresses.
Using this set up I created a 1gb thick drive consisting of two HA nodes and one asynchronous node. I also set up a 1gb lsfs drive. This drive took several attempts to set up since it refused to complete the first sync. No idea why.
I then wrote a script that moved data to the drives and then off again in a continuous loop. It did not take long before one of the HA nodes went off line, The windows server was fine, just the starwind service was not responding. a restart of the star wind service restored it. I’ve only had this problem since upgrading to starwind 8.0.0.11818.
I also shutdown one node at a time to simulate a failure or maintenance, powered it up and allowed it to resync before the shutting down another. Each shutdown was the normal windows shutdown. I did not simulate a sudden power loss.
It was only a matter of hours before the drives were corrupt & couldn’t complete a sync. Marking any drive as synchronised at this point did not help.
I must be missing something fundamental in the star wind set up.
