Hi,

I have the free-for-MCP NFR version of Starwind Virtual SAN and have installed it on two hosts.

The hosts are 2x 12-core supermicro nodes with 6x2TB Sata drives on each. Windows server 2012R2 core edition is configured using software Raid-5 via the Windows dynamic-disk functionality.

Hosts are directly connected via 10Gb ethernet.

I have starwind configured in a 2-node synchronous HA configuration

When I start the initial sync, speeds peak to 5-6Gb/s for a couple of mins, then drop to about 500Mb/s and stay there. I'm trying to sync a 9tb array and don't want to wait days for it to finish.

Is this the intended behavior and can I do anything to change it? Or is there possibly a configuration issue?

I have enabled jumbo frames across the entire path.

Dan

Nevemind...upon further review my underlying storage is not performing properly. It's the bottleneck.

The spike at the beginning I bet is because Starwind was caching the writes to ram until the buffer filled up.

Hello Sathackr,

Thank you for your post.

It is always a good idea to check underlying storage first :)

Speaking about spike, you are absolutely right. It is StarWind cache doing it's job.
