Hello guys,

I have a new test environment and have a question regarding the stripe or strip size of the volume I want to create for Virtual SAN devices.

As long as I know the stripe size of a RAID volume is the block size of that "virtual RAID disk". But in the MegaRAID Software of my LSI/Avago RAID controller I can only define the strip size and not the stripe size.
The strip size is the part of the stripe which is on every single disk in the RAID, right?

So let´s say I have a full SSD RAID with 8 SSDs total and want to create a RAID5 (I know this is not recommended for SSDs by Starwind) what would be the recommended strip size or the stripe size?
I´m a litte bit confused about that.

Thanks for help! :)

Hello
As far as I understood you, you want to configure RAID stripe size.
As I`ve heard better stripe size for RAID 5 is 64K.
I have almost the same configuration in my test lab with 64K stripe size and it works well.
