Thanks Tera,
So to summarize, in the current production build:
1) L2 Cache with Thick Image file is stable
2) L2 Cache with LSFS is not 100% stable
3) LSFS without L2 Cache is stable
Is that correct?

Since #2 (L2 Cache with LSFS) is not 100% stable, which one of the remaining ones will give better performance?
1) Thick Image File with L2 cache?
OR
3) LSFS without L2 cache?
Thanks!
Jeff

Thick is proven to be rock solid for me almost in any situations. So if you do not need dedupe, use thick.

Yes - still have my two previous questions:
1) Better performance from:
a. LSFS without L2 cache?
OR
b. Thick Image with L2 cache enabled?
2) Timetable on new build release?
Thanks!

Tera,
Can you or someone else at StarWind have an answer for these performance questions? Really hard to plan and implement a new HA system unless we know the best and StarWind recommended route to go. My project is on hold until then. Really need to get it started.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jhamm,
I would strictly recommend using a thick image unless you have some *really* slow drives. It's just more predictable at least for me. And L2 cache works perfect with thick provisioned devices.
Yeah, we are all waiting for a new build. It seems StarWind guys did a great job and implemented a lot of new stuff in it since i do not remember any other previous build that needed so much testing

StarWind - any update on when you think the new build will be available? I thought it was supposed to have been released in September? It's really hard to plan implementations when we don't have a firm idea when to expect updates.
Thanks!
Jeff

Hello,
Unfortunately, our new R3 build is still under heavy testing.
Nevertheless, I will be more than happy to share one of our pre-release builds to those who would like to try it out. Please note, that it is not considered as stable.

Hi Jeff,
Currently upgraded most of my customers to the latest one. No issues so far with flat devices and both types of cache.
