I am attempting to use the Hardware VSS provider with Veeam Backup. I am attempting to backup Virtual Machines running on a 2 node Hyper-V cluster. The issue I am encountering is that the StarWind VSS Hardware Provider is available to backup only one of the two cluster nodes within Veeam. When Veeam queries the volumes on the 2nd cluster node (which are hosted on the same Clustered Shared Volumes as the 1st cluster node), the StarWind VSS Hardware Provider is unavailable.
Is there something I need to install or configure on my 2nd Hyper-V cluster node in order for Veeam to be able to use the StarWind Hardware VSS Provider to back it up?
Thanks!
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Please do not try to use StarWind VSS Hardware provider. It is for internal use only (LSFS, Async Replication) and it should not be used for another purposes.

Could you please clarify what type of image files do you use?
I had to be more accurate because StarWind VSS provider can be used with backup software but only if this is LSFS/Async.

Yes, it is with an LSFS device. I think I figured it out. Some of my devices were IMG and some were LSFS. Forgot that the Hardware VSS Provider only works with LSFS devices
Thanks!
