I recently upgraded the software build on my Western Digital Sentinel array to the latest (version 01.05.07.30) but didn't read the release notes. I had previously installed starwind free versin 5.8 and have upgraded to 6.0.5189. I am seeing reliability issues with targets going down now and in reading the release notes today, I see the following mention in the Feature Enhancements section of the release notes from WD's site:

Support for iSCSI Storage Area Network (SAN) with newly introduced iSCSI Target capability, powered by StarWind™

I see that I can create basic image file targets, but there are not many settings exposed on the storage dashboard. I had previously setup deduplicated and image file devices, neither of which are usable in the dashboard.

Can both of these coexist, or do I need to create targets in the Windows Dashboard, copy the data from the current image and deduplicated disk and uninstall the full version of starwind? I plan on using this just as a backup server for now.

Thanks,
-Bill

You can have OEM version installed and installed StarWind Free working on a different set of iSCSI and control ports.
