We are looking to purchase a SAN solution for our network and came across the StarWind site. Given the cost of other SAN solutions it appears this may provide the same functionality and save us some money. We are looking at this to provide SAN storage in a cluster environment and I am curious if others have successfully implemented this as a alternate approach and have seen the same reliability you would get from a typical SAN. We're starting from scratch with our network and probably need at least 8TB of storage for Oracle & SQL databases as well as several Microsoft Server Software disk storage targets. I am told a standard SAN such as Dell Powervault or Equallogic is a more robust solution than something like this and it would be a risk for us to put our core data onto this type of environment. Anyone care to comment? Is this really as strong a solution or are there some risks associated with the cost savings?
