[AoE] New Coraid products and features questions

Postby Fbill » Thu Feb 22, 2007 11:04 am

Hi,

I sent this question 2 weeks ago to the RDS support but it still remain unanswered at this time :

Coraid has released a new product ‘SR1521’ which support load balancing of the two network interfaces.
Linux native driver already support this feature which has the effect of nearly doubling the access throughput (see http://www.coraid.com/support/sr/SRPerfAnalysis.pdf and http://www.coraid.com/support/sr/index.html for more informations).

So, do you plan to develop this load balancing feature in your Starport product ? Several customers are asking us about this features on windows.
Thanks in advance

Best regards,
Francois Billard

Bill, I think you have to do something with your spam killer :) Here's the quotation of the last reply from me:

Francois,

Sure we have plans to add this stuff to StarPort! However for now the most important thing is Vista
and Beta2 Longhorn support.
So we plan to release it next month an catch up with CoRAID updates.

Thanks!

load balancing and failover on Coraid network interfaces which is very appreciated on linux. Windows customers are waiting for it since SR1521 as been announced.

We don't have really any time frame for it. Untill we'll not have Vista/Longhorn 64-bit support we'll not do any features.

I see, do you have any road map you can share ?
Cause customers are requesting dates for this type of important goodies.

We have only Vista 64-bit and Windows 2003 SP2 support in the road map.

Ok then maybe people on this forum should vote on features they would like ;-) We vote for load balancing and failover of network interfaces !

Windows version support is a must have of course but features available on coraid linux driver which increase performance and availability (failover) are IMHO very important.

Hope StarPort users and customers which are using AoE and Coraid will give you their feed back on roadmap scope.

It's a free world so you can do whatever you want: vote for StarPort AoE features, support pure leasbian marriages (I do myself if both chicks are hot!), use hybrid engines instead of old lovely V8's and alcohol free beer instead of vodka... Just don't force other people following you. As it could be not what they exactly want.

Take it easy Anton, I do not want to force anyone on this point (not my vision of life), it's just a feature request.

We are using this feature on linux and it is simply great.
Our windows customers are asking us questions on this feature cause they are waiting for it : nothing else.

I'm sure you are taking care of customer feedback and we just express and forward you the requests we have.

Contact me in private if you would like to continue this conversation.

I'm taking it quite seriously. As we have to do what our customers are willing us to do. Unless we'll have no customers :)

I'll continue this thread in private however. You're once again right.

Thank you!
