Welcome to StarWind forum.

Could you provide all logs, please? Here is how to collect the logs with StarWind Log Collector https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... collector/.
Transfer the logs using Google Drive or any other similar service.

Thanks for the reply.

Do we need to set the hostnqn somewhere on the host system?

Greetings,

We also need logs from the target side. I wil share the procedure on their collection shortly.
Here is the guide on configuring StarWind NVMe-oF target and initiator: https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resour ... g-nvme-of/.
NQN should be like: nqn.2008-08.com.starwindsoftware and it is generated automatically.

Greetings,

I cannot see StarWind VSAN logs which imply that they were either not collected or StarWind VSAN was not configured. Could you run collection once again? if the issue persists we will ask you to log the case with StarWind Support.

Could you please answer some questions?
1. Type of the target - software/hardware, model or software name, exact version.
2. NIC models, versions, driver versions on client and on the target.
3. Connection type - direct link, switch, other? The connection diagram will be helpful.
4. Is lossless mode enabled for the NIC and Switch? Type: Global Pause, Priority Flow Control?
5. Client - Windows version.
6. Does it have MPIO configured?
7. Is RDMA enabled?
8. Is StarWind NVMe-oF Target installed?

Thank you!

Thanks again.
StarWind VSAN is not configured, I am using StarWind NVMeoF Initiator. Can I use StarWind NVMEoF Initiator without StarWind VSAN?
I am using RoCEv2 target.
I am using Mellanox ConnectX-4 Adapter to connect to it.
Topology is using Mellanox 2700 switch and lossless is not configured.
Host <-------------> Switch <-------------> Target
Global Pause is enabled.
Using Windows 2019 Server.
MPIO is not enabled.
RDMA is enabled.

StarWind NVMeoF target is not installed.

Whether the following command seem to be okay?
C:\Users\Administrator>starNVMeof_ctrl insert 10.10.10.167:4420 10.10.10.90 nqn.2015-09.com.nbt:nvme.1 nqn.2008-08.com.starwindsoftware

Greetings,

Sorry for the delayed response. Error 55 means that target and initiator cannot communicate.
Are jumbo frames enabled?
Could you run check the RDMA connectivity between the target and initiator?
What Target you use, is it SPDK Target?
As a part of troubleshooting please try bringing network adapter on the target side down and up. Just run ifdown and ifup commands.

Thanks for the reply, we could fix the issue. Yes, it was SPDK target and toggling the link solved the issue.
