Hi,

I tried accessing a hard drive targeted with starwind that shows up fine in starport, but will not install properly. It says "an error occurred during installation of the device"

I can access cdroms ok...

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Sharing of a whole hard drive with SPTI is possible only if the drive is not in use by the server's operation system.
So you can't share the only hard drive for read/write access.

There are 2 ways to go:
1) Install an additional hard drive and make sure it's not accessed by the local system (swap files, data storage, etc).

2) Use ImageFile plugin instead of SPTI to create virtual file-based hard drives that will be visible to the client as a normal hard drives.
This method is much reliable and flexible/ And we suggest using ImageFile volumes in most of the cases.
Best regards,
Valeriy
