Hi there,

I'm working on a project where we need to write data to a Coraid storage unit (in a point-to-point configuration) and are considering the use of your AoE initiator software.

The question is: How fast can the software perform when writing big files to a NTFS drive in a AoE compatible storage device?
We need to write data at 70~80 MBps (effective data rate), can the AoE software sustain this data rates?
The data will reside in system memory (put there via DMA) so fetching it should be fast.

Regards,

Pete

You should be able to access AoE storage with our initiator @ rates you list. That's no problem!

We do not however recommend using AoE storage in production and do recommend to re-think and re-work your infrastructure and consider using iSCSI instead of AoE.

Hi Anton,

Thanks for the quick reply,

Great news then.
This configuration is not going to be a production solution, but part of a test rig.
The use of AoE is acceptable provided it is fast enough.

Thanks again,

Pete

It's up to you but you've been warned in any case.
