Tape redirector - Sys center 2012 R2 in VM

I would like to know if tape redirector is a good solution for the following scenario

1) Tape redirector running on a base server Win 2012 R2

2) SAS x2 LTO6 Quantum Saclar i40 tape library attached via dedicated LSI card on the base server (works with Acronis in this setup)

3) iSCSI target of SAS drives (or drive) created

3) System Center 2012 R2 - DPM running in VM (iSCSI HD work OK)

4) SAS tape library to be seen and used by DPM in the VM

5) Optional - Would it be possible to split the use of the tape library. The library is partitioned, and would it be possible to have one partition used by DPM, and the other partition by Acronis through the direct SAS interface?

Yes, you can run this scenario.

No, you cannot "share" tape drive. Either it's used local or it's "redirected".

Thanks.

Can I split the drives - one drive for acronis, and one for DPM.

If not, can I create one iSCSI target that is used by both - presumably there I will be able to instruct the software as to which partition to use?

As long as there are multiple device instances (object names) you can do whatever you want. But if there's a single \\.\Tape%d and \\.\Changer%d you're pretty much limited with either local or redirected access but not both @ the same time. The same about multiple apps sharing - if they know how to divide single physical device you'll be fine but we're not doing any arbitration (do not inject and intercept SCSI traffic between initiator and target) just do redirection over iSCSI.
