Hello and welcome on board sir!
May I ask you to clarify what build are you using? I will also ask you to clarify whole the scenario (i.e. what is trying to connect to target, waht app will use it, etc.).
Thank you

Hi
I am running Server 2012 Standard build 9200. I have installed a SAS card with an HP LTO5 device
I am running Windows Server 2008 R2 on the VM as Backup exec is not supported on Server 2012 yet.
What other info would you like?
Thanks
Craig

Have you installed the Tape drivers on all the OSes that are/will use it?
Can you see the tape listed in the device manager on both machines?

I really just need someone to explain how to add the tape drive to tape redirector and then view it in the Hyper V?

Inside your VM you need to install exactly the same set of software you use to access your tape drive physically (backup app + tape related drivers and opt. software).
You install tape redirector service on a machine with PHYSICAL access to your tape loader/drive. GUI location is irrelevant. Then you export your tape and connect to it
with iSCSI initator from your backup VM. So now please clarify @ what step you're really failing? Thanks!

Hi,
I have the same problem.
I have a windows server 2012 (physical) connected to a IBM TS3310 (3576) with LTO4 and LTO5 drives and also has Microsoft data protection manager installed on it.
I installed Hyper-V and built a VM with a fresh install of Server 2008 R2 SP1.
Tape redirector can see the library and tape drive, but the VM can only see the library in device manager.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
--------------------------------UPDATE------------------------------------------
I've sorted it out.
I had to add a drive aswell as a library in the devices.
Thanks
