Hi,

I have ESX 4.0 installed on a Dell T710 Server.
The ESX hosts 2 servers at the minute.

The most important guest is an SBS 2008 server; which has Backup Exec 12.5 installed.
The SBS 2008 server can see the internal Tape Unit in the Dell T710 server.
My problem is that Backup Exec is not backing up to the tape.

Do you have any ideas on what I can do?

Thank you
ct

colintyrrell,

Do you export a physical tape drive over iSCSI and want to have another server write the backups to this server using backup exec?

In this case this post might be helpful for you http://www.starwindsoftware.com/forums/ ... t1089.html

Thanks

Hi Robert,
the SBS server (i.e.e the vmware guest) will be writing it's own data to the tape.
The tape unit is an internal one of the vmware host; a Dell T710.

The SBS can see the tape unit; just can not successfully write to it.

Thanks,
ct

That's most probably because of the different packets sizes of the Initiator and the tape that is not able to receive larger packets.
