Hi,

how can I check the latest version of Tape Redirector and compare to the one installed on my Server?
Also, how can I simply upgrade my installation without "affecting" any parameter? I am currently using "Tape Redirector V8"

Thanks for your support,
Max

Greetings, if you have just requested and downloaded it recently, that is the latest version.

Dear Yaroslav,

in effect I am using tape Redirector since a year now on my server and I have just installed the SW Management Console on my PC and I am trying to connect to the server but I get the following message:

"Console (v8.0.0.0 build 13586) and Service (v8.0.0 build 12767) build versions do not match. This can cause issues. PLease use the same build versions of console and service!"

I was thinking to update the software on my server but how can I safely update/upgrade it?

Thanks,
Max

Hi,

No worries. That means that you are running an old version of StarWind Service on the other server. Here is how to update StarWind VSAN https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware. ... d-version/.

Let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

Hey, I can't see the full thread, but if you're hitting a wall on the VSAN setup or performance tuning, make sure you've ruled out the networking layer first. Nine times out of ten, it’s a subtle MTU size mismatch or a NIC offload setting causing headaches!

The version mismatch means the service must be upgraded to the exact same build as the console. Before updating, make a configuration backup and check the release notes to confirm there are no breaking changes for your current setup.

Bringing a console alone will be much safer.
Updating PowerShell Library in Windows environments where you have service (starwindservice.exe) running on the same node as the console will restart starwindservice; watch out and plan the update accordingly.

Hey Max
To check the version of the Tape Redirector, you can go to the control panel of your server where it's installed. Once there, look in the installed programs section, you should see the current version. As for the update, it's always better to backup your config first, like charlieeast58 mentioned.
I had a similar issue with version matching, and I found the update process pretty smooth following StarWind's instructions.
Just make sure to read the release notes carefully to avoid surprises! :)
