Instructions to get VTL working with DPM 2012?

I really want to get VTL working with DPM 2012. I have Starwinds installed on my DPM server and have added a new target and inside the target I have added a new Virtual Tape device and inside the virtual tape device I have added a new Tape. The tape says "Mounted: No". When I have DPM scan for tape libraries it doesn't find any. Nothing really appears in Device Manager either. Is there a "from scratch" guide to getting this working?
